Fighting evil

Well, it's been a tough week. First there was the stupid criticism over spelling, which you know doesn't really bother me and stuff. i have a pretty thick skin and i don't care if people poke fun.

But now, I have to deal with tens of thousands of people all over the nation, reading one of the most popular blogs in America (wonkette) and looking at pictures of me taken while i was under the influence. I would ask that all College Republicans be united in our party and our organization against the left. Don't play these stupid political games by always criticizing and stuff.

Vulcher Scandal

In a perfect illustration of how persnickity and petty the "blogosphere" can be, some have taken to criticizing my public misspelling of the word "vultures" at a recent meeting. In my defense, I would like to point out that a quick google search will show you that at least 3,180 individuals use the same spelling as I do, which, in fact, is phonetically correcter than the "correct" spelling, which aught to be pronounced vull-tours. I submit to you that vulcher is an appropriate alternate spelling for this beautiful, majestic and yet sadly endangered bird.

Let's talk about FUNDRAISING

When we talked about all the projects we're going to do we didn't talk about the one big project that we have and its the big project thats going to make all of our other projects possible! The big project is fundraising!

As Treasurer, I was able to help the CRNC raise more money then we ever have before! Will have to work harder though to make sure that we can do as much this year, because it's an off election and alot of our generous donors are not giving so much to political organizations, which is understandable.

We used to do a lot of direct mail, but we were courageous and said, you know what, maybe we shouldn't do direct mail anymore. I led the charge in making sure that we stopped that, now we did. Now we raise money through telemarketing, which is an aggressive way to reach our donors and increase communication with them, to get them to donate. Some of you may have met Republican activists in your community who have received phone calls from our hardworking CRNC telemarketing fundraisers! We have found that these repeated phone calls are effective and popular with grassroots Republican donors.

Its true that we may not have all the cash to do all the things that we want, but we will definitely have enough money to have the LARGEST FIELD REP PROGRAM IN AN OFF YEAR ELECTION EVER. We've only done the program for a few years, so there haven't really been that many off years that we've had the program, but this year will still be the LARGEST EVER. With your help, we can make sure that we provide maybe a little more than half a dozen field reps this year!

That's why we're asking College Republicans in different states to work for the greater good and do fundraising for the CRNC. When that money comes direct to us, we'll be able to cover important costs and maybe direct many of the benefits back to college republicans on the grassroots level.

So make sure, when raising money for college republicans, ask the donors to make the check out to college republican national committee. They can even just write "CRNC" (I asked the teller about it! They said it's A-oK!!). Be sure to follow up a few days letter with a thank you (and another request).

Thanks for all the work you're doing for us!

apology

Sorry for a small item that was accidentally included in Jess's post below. It was written as a complete joke and then was accidentally included in the final post. the bad comment has been deleted. We like to joke around at the CRNC HQ, but we aren't always serious!

As Republicans, we believe in creating a party that is as inclusive and tolerant as possible.

PS: Jess just handed me a report all about the hundreds of people that are visiting our site. I guess through the computer you can see the website of where the person who is looking at our site is from! I din't know you could do that, thanks Jess!! It's exciting, because we have gotten "hits" from Congress, law firms, and the South Dakota State Government! AWESOME!!! Stay tuned guys, there's tons of more news coming all the time.

Our Agenda for 2005!!!

Paul and I ran on a platform that stressed 7 critical functions for our team and the CRNC. Today I want to talk about those items.

1. The Field Program

Everyone knows about the field program. It's our best weapon in the fight against liberals. I was a field rep, and Paul's run the field program. We know how to do the field program right.

In 2004 we sent out 60 field reps to re-elect President Bush. This year, we will send out 12 field reps, the largest number ever in an off-election year. At a cost of over $130,000, it's a good investment that shows the strength of Paul's vision for the CRNC and his experience.

2. Technology

Paul touched Friday on the importance of the website. The website is only part of our larger, stronger vision for the CRNC. Technology is critical to our success.

During the election, we promised free websites and e-mail to every chapter in the country. We will deliver.

Paul also wants to make it so our website is more interactive. We want people to be able to sign-up for their chapter online and publish resources for chapters to use online also.

3. Block Grants

Fundraising is important to our organization. I know that. Paul knows that. We also know that it's hard for some states to raise money. Paul and I want to make it easier for states to get resources from the CRNC for critical projects in their states.

4. Regional Coordination

Instead of proposing an expensive, big government field director program like some, Paul and I believe that Caucus Chairman can make a significant impact on our organization. We believe that coordinated efforts among states can lead our Republican candidates to victory!

5. Women's Outreach

The Republican Party is about more than big, fat white men. Women are crucial to our success as a party. It's important that we continue to reach out to women and bring them into the party.

6. Training

Paul and I strongly believe that training the next generation of College Republican leaders is crucial to our success as an organization. We want to expand on the efforts of the Leadership Institute and our very own field rep program.

7. My Party Too

Queery String Update

Is anyone getting this string of nonsense at the top of some of the CRNC pages? It says:

" % @ Language = VBScrip t%>< % dimvarHTML If Request.QueryString("LinkID") < >" "then %>"

Cuh-razy! I think something's all messed up with our queery string. We'll get it solved, I promise.

I never would have imagined how busy it is to be the leader of all college republicans. Tons of stuff to do. This week has been busy. I've been giving speeches, and going to meetings to. Sometimes I don't even have time to eat! (but i still do)

Jess is working on a major post about all of our plans. It will have different bullet points and descriptions. We hope you'll all keep coming back and increasing our communication!

Work work work

Thanks to everyone whose visited our blog in the first week! We've gotten tons of hits and notes from people saying good luck to. We are glad that we can increase communication through the blog and the internet. Alot of times there is stuff on blogs that is not as reputable. We're hoping to just have a straight-forward way to increase communication with college republicans.

We've gotten all settled in at the college republican headquarters (we'll call it CRNC-HQ for short) and will work to get our agenda implemented. Throughout the week I'll post about what we're doing and Jess will also post.
